Facilities

The College of Justice and Safety is housed in the Stratton building in the Robert R. Martin Complex. Stratton is a self-sustained building housing an auditorium, a library with more than 45,000 holdings and lap top computers available for check out, four computer labs and a cafeteria. Many of the classrooms have been wired for state of the art technology for interactive learning opportunities.

Also located within the Robert R. Martin Complex is a six-acre lake, seven-acre driving range and the Ashland Inc. Fire and Safety laboratory which houses a fire protection system lab, fire extinguisher service lab and a multipurpose high bay lab.

Although not part of the Robert R. Martin complex, the Dizney Building, houses the Emergency Medical Care program and is an important part of the College of Justice & Safety’s facilities. The Dizney Building has two large lab facilities for hands-on training as well as classroom space.

In addition to 45,000 holdings, the recently remodeled Justice & Safety Library has a staff dedicated to helping EKU students and provides a comfortable environment for students to study and read. Students also have access to 12 computer workstations with Internet access, and lap top computers are available for graduate students to check out.

The recently renovated Posey Auditorium has a 250-seat capacity and offers the latest in audiovisual technology. The College’s Distinguished Lecture Series and other guest lecturer presentations are held in Posey Auditorium. Guest lecturers include Dr. David Boyd, Deputy Director in the Department of Homeland Security and Dr. Emily Craig, Kentucky’s Forensic Anthropologist (pictured).

The Fire Sprinkler Lab, located in the Ashland, Inc. Fire and Safety Laboratory helps facilitate student learning and is available for outside agencies to use as a training device.
