Endowment Opportunities
There is a great need for scholarships at EKU. During the 2002 – 2003 academic year, 85% of EKU students received some type of financial aid to assist in their higher education costs. In 2002, 92.6% of the new, full-time freshman class received aid.
This in an opportune time to invest in Eastern Kentucky University’s future. Your contribution will have a tremendous impact on the students of this institution. Contributions to Eastern Kentucky University will support our vision of being the leading comprehensive university in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, earning national distinction in an environment where students and learning come first.
The College of Justice & Safety is proud to announce the development of several endowed scholarships to help students interested in the fields of justice and safety achieve their educational dreams.
- Charles Reedy Scholarship
- The Charles Reedy Scholarship is named for the first chair of the Department of Corrections (now Correctional and Juvenile Justice Studies). Dr. Reedy created an atmosphere that supported the learning styles of traditional and nontraditional students alike. This scholarship recognizes the contributions that Dr. Reedy made to the development of today’s leaders in corrections and juvenile justice. Eligibility for this scholarship is limited to members of the immediate families of these practitioners or to individuals currently employed full-time in a corrections or juvenile justice agency. Initially focused at the undergraduate level, our goal is to generate adequate resources to support individuals pursuing graduate degrees as well.
- Joseph L. Famularo Scholarship
- Joseph L. Famularo spent his life from 1968 until his death in December of 2002 dedicated to the advancement of law enforcement. This special scholarship was established as a memorial scholarship in the name of Joseph L. Famularo to recognize excellence and dedication of a junior or senior student seeking a degree in the areas of Criminal Justice or Police Studies at the College of Justice & Safety. It is an endowment established as a tribute to the long, storied career of a dedicated professional, and as an aid to both the student seeking a public service career and the community in which he or she will serve.
