Kentucky Center for School Safety
The department houses the Kentucky Center for School Safety (CSS), which is mandated by 1998 legislation and represents a collaborative effort between Eastern Kentucky University, Murray State University, the University of Kentucky, and the Kentucky School Boards Association. CSS is a central point for dissemination of information about successful school safety programs. The center also works with schools, justice system agencies, related human service organizations, and communities to coordinate training, technical assistance, and analysis of data related to school safety issues. Since the inception of CSS, department faculty have worked closely with CSS staff to accomplish these tasks; one member of the department holds a School Safety Research Fellowship.
