About the CJPS Department

LAE Regional Conference Award Winners

The Department of Criminal Justice and Police Studies has approximately 700 majors and is one of the largest programs in the nation devoted to criminal justice education.

The Department offers a wide range of academic courses related to the following major objectives:

  • Provide students with an academic, ethical, and legal foundation for employment opportunities within the criminal justice field
  • Prepare students for judicial and professional programs
  • Conduct research in criminal justice
  • Provide service to individuals and organizations within the criminal justice system

The Department of Criminal Justice and Police Studies offers an Associate Degree and a Bachelor Degree in Police Studies, as well as a Minor, Bachelors and Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. Course descriptions and requirements can be found in the Catalog. Courses are taught at the Stratton building, located on the south end of the Eastern Kentucky Campus.
