Criminal Justice & Police Studies
About the CJPS Department

The Department of Criminal Justice and Police Studies has approximately 700 students and is one of the largest programs in the nation devoted to criminal justice education.
The Department offers a wide range of academic courses related to the following major objectives:
- Provide students with an academic, ethical, and legal foundation for employment opportunities within the criminal justice field
- Prepare students for judicial and professional programs
- Conduct research in criminal justice
- Provide service to individuals and organizations within the criminal justice system
The Department of Criminal Justice and Police Studies offers an Associate's Degree and a Bachelor's Degree in Police Studies, as well as a Minor, Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Criminal Justice. Courses are taught at the Stratton building, located on the south end of the Eastern Kentucky University Campus.
