Preparing for Justice & Safety

If you think you might be interested in learning more about the fields of justice and safety, please feel free to visit our campus and sit in on a class or meet with some faculty members. You can set up a visit to the College by calling the office of the Dean at 859.622.3565. You can also find out more about justice and safety by taking any criminal justice classes offered at your high school or community college.
Another way to prepare for the fields of justice and safety is to contact your local police or fire departments and inquire about explorer programs. Explorer programs are co-educational, young-adult programs developed and supervised by local community organizations, businesses and individuals providing an opportunity for young adults to explore a particular career field.
Explorers can broaden their understanding and firsthand knowledge of the challenges and job skills that make up their community's police and fire services. In addition to gaining a working knowledge of police work and fire service, the participants have the opportunity to give of themselves to their community.
