Emergency Medical Care

The EKU Emergency Medical Care Program is the only accredited Paramedic program in Kentucky. It offers a well established Associate of Science degree and the ONLY Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Medical Care in Kentucky.
Paramedics are the men and women who work under "standing orders and protocols" to bring the emergency room to the patient. We don't replace physicians but we are their eyes, ears and hands until the patient reaches the hospital. Paramedics intubate, give medications, shock hearts, use the jaws of life, perform confined space rescue, manage disaster scenes and more....
Paramedics and EMTs are the front-line in the on-going efforts to improve the emergency health care delivery system in America. We here at Eastern are striving to remain at the forefront on this and other important EMS issues.
This program has 5 full-time faculty members. Each one has a great deal of experience in EMS and other areas of healthcare.
