Student Organizations

The purpose of the Fire and Safety Engineering Technology Program student professional clubs and associations is to promote the advancement of the students professional and educational development. This goal is being accomplished by the development of close working relationships between professional in the area of Fire Protection and Safety, the faculty, Alumni, and the students that are members of the organizations.
Participants in both student associations are provided unlimited opportunities to demonstrate their creative skills by developing special programs or projects that are representative of their future career goals, developing working relationships with alumni and other professional in the field, and providing a network of resources and professional opportunities. Each of the organizations has a specific focus, but are closely related in both operation and goal.
Students are encouraged to participate in one or both of the organizations. Membership is open to all individuals that are interested in advancing the fire protection and safety education at Eastern Kentucky University. - Association of Fire Science Technicians (AFST)

The Association of Fire Science Technicians is a student association aimed at providing in depth continuing education in Fire, Arson, and rescue operations. Designed to help support former, present, and future students with career placement, and networking with other agency representatives.

- The Eastern Kentucky University student chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers is a chapter of the National Organization aimed at providing a professional discussion, outlook of today's top safety issues, and OSHA regulations. This chapter also helps in career placement, and networking with other students and professionals in our field.
