What careers are available with a Homeland Security degree?
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is currently the 2nd largest federal agency in the U.S., comprised of 22 federal agencies and employing 170,000 people. In addition, many local police, and fire departments employ a homeland security liaison or specialist, and most states have their own homeland security department or office.
Also, during the last several years, many private companies in the United States have expanded existing security systems or created new, more effective security systems. Additionally, many of these companies have identified homeland security sectors or initiatives.
In 2003 alone, American states, cities, the private sector and the United States federal government spent more than $100 billion on initiatives and strategies related to homeland security.
